SpaceX is closer than most people realize to putting the first serious base on the Moon. Starship changes the entire equation. Up to 100 tonnes delivered directly to the lunar surface. Habitats, rovers, power systems, construction equipment, everything you need to start building a permanent outpost. Then the other pieces snap into place. Tesla Optimus robots unload cargo, assemble structures, move equipment and handle the dangerous construction work before large human crews ever arrive. Building a base with humans alone is a hard ceiling: life support, pressurized habitats, suits, oxygen, food, radiation shielding, all of it just to survive long enough to work.
